Begining and Intermediate Classes
You are invited to join our beginning level program even if you have never participated in sports before! You will learn about the origins of fencing and dueling and what they have become in the Olympic games. Most importantly you will become a fencer yourself with instruction in form, footwork and blade technique as well as formal bouting. Once you advance to the intermediate level, you will leam more about strategy and competition. Intermediate students and above may begin studying sabre or epee and will have the opportunity to mentor beginning fencing students! Check our Fees & Times page for scheduling.
Youth Beginning & Intermediate
Your child receives mentoring from top level, nationally competitive athletes. The teacher to student average for this program is 1 to 2. Each session begins with "wacky-wacker warm ups" followed by basic stretching and footwork. Students have the opportunity to hold leadership roles as team captains and game leaders. Your child will learn basic "fencing French" which is the international language of the game. Every fencer should purchase a personal competition sword so as to enjoy our electric scoring systems. These systems facilitate your child's progress and feel just like playing a live action video game! Parents are invited to stay and watch the action. Please check our Fees & Times page for scheduling.
Advanced & Elite
Students at the advanced level are prepared for regional and national competition. Athletes learn to make and keep training and competition logs, and study the practices and techniques of U.S. and Olympic champions. Advanced and Elite athletes should obtain full competition gear to ensure consistent physical and mental performance. Advanced athletes have the opportunity to mentor intermediate students while Elite athletes will mentor the advanced. Elite athletes will continue training through sports psychology, video analysis, high level bouting and U.S. North American Cup competitions. Please check our Fees & Times page for scheduling.
